Calen has been involved in the field of geomatics and surveying since 2005. He received his diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology from Saskatchewan Polytechnic in 2012, an Advanced Survey Certificate from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in 2017, and a Certificate of Completion from the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors (CBEPS) in 2020. With a passion for the outdoors and traveling, Calen chose this career path to combine his technical skills with his desire for adventure.

Calen joined Catterall & Wright in 2012 and has since worked closely with clients to collaborate and develop cost-effective survey solutions for their land development projects. As the Survey Manager, he is responsible for providing training, leadership, direction, and vision for the survey staff.  Calen’s areas of expertise include photogrammetric modeling, geodetic positioning, horizontal and vertical control systems, precision survey networks, topographic mapping, and construction surveying.  Calen has embraced a practical approach and enjoys the process of connecting with clients to meet their project needs.

Calen holds memberships with the Saskatchewan Land Surveyors Association (SLSA) as a Saskatchewan Land Surveyor in Training (SLSIT), Technology Professionals Saskatchewan (TPS) as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T), and the Saskatchewan Association of Geomatics Technologists (SAGT) as a Certified Geomatics Technologist (CGT).  Calen enjoys engaging with audiences to discuss and educate on the latest advancements in geomatics and has occasionally presented to various professional organizations, University of Saskatchewan students, and high-school students.  Alongside his professional pursuits, Calen enjoys reading, spending time with his family, golfing with friends, and staying active through a variety of activities.
