C&W played a key role in the 2022 revitalization of Biggar’s business core and transition zone, a $6.6 million project aimed at modernizing infrastructure and enhancing the community’s vibrant downtown. The business core received extensive upgrades, including nearly 800 meters of new water mains and service connections for 40 buildings, installation of storm sewer systems, and over 3,000 square meters of concrete sidewalks. The project also featured approximately 10,000 square meters of asphalt paving, thermoplastic decorative crosswalks, unit-paved amenity strips, raised planters, irrigation networks, underground electrical systems, new streetlights, and carefully selected trees with custom grates. In the transition zone, four blocks underwent asphalt overlay, sidewalk replacements, and landscaping enhancements to complement the downtown improvements.
A significant challenge was maintaining business access and minimizing disruptions, which was addressed through meticulous scheduling and proactive communication, including advance notices and daily project updates. The revitalization successfully transformed Biggar’s Main Street into a modern, welcoming space that respects the town’s history while supporting its future growth and community spirit.
