Catterall & Wright provided design, tendering, and inspection services for the construction of a new sewage pumping station in Melfort, replacing the original facility which had become both undersized and outdated.
The new station features three variable speed, dry-pit submersible pumps and includes a standby generator to maintain operation during power outages. A flow-splitting chamber was also installed to direct raw sewage to the City’s lagoon cells, each with varying operating levels, which proved to be a challenging task. The upgraded system greatly reduced the risk of untreated wastewater discharging into Melfort Creek.
