In 2019, a new $1.7 million water treatment plant was constructed to serve the Cathedral Bluffs community, a residential area northeast of Saskatoon. The existing plant, over 20 years old, had surpassed its service life and required full replacement. The project involved the construction of a new facility to serve approximately 70 acreage-style homes and included two new groundwater wells, a reverse osmosis membrane treatment unit, below-grade reservoir storage, and new distribution pumps. The scope also included demolition of the aging treatment plant.
A significant challenge arose when the original treatment equipment supplier was unable to meet project requirements, prompting the need to engage a new supplier mid-project. By working closely with the general contractor, we ensured that all deliverables were met and the community received a fully operational and reliable system. The new facility now provides high-quality treated water and is designed to serve the community for the next 20 years.
