West Park Water Pumphouse

Client:
Town of Battleford
The West Park Subdivision, located west of the Town of Battleford, is located on elevated terrain, and previously relied on a booster station for its potable water supply. However, Catterall & Wright’s engineering review determined that the subdivision would be better served by a dedicated reservoir and pumping station to ensure more reliable and efficient water delivery.

Completed in 2018, the $2 million project included the installation of a new supply pipeline from the Town’s core distribution network, along with the construction of a water pumphouse featuring below-grade reservoir storage and distribution pumping capabilities. The pumphouse was equipped with remote communication systems, allowing operators at the Town’s main water treatment plant to monitor and control operations in real time.

A key challenge emerged when the original booster station, which was to be converted into a pressure reducing station, experienced a piping failure midway through the project. In response, a new pressure reducing station was quickly designed and constructed to keep the project on schedule. As a result, the West Park Subdivision now benefits from dependable, modern infrastructure for water storage and delivery.
