Project involved improvement of First Street and Rail Crossing in the Town of Dalmeny. Catterall & Wright team conducted an at-grade road-rail crossing safety review at CNR line and First Street intersection north of Highway 305 West. The safety review included the collection of vehicle and pedestrian counts, review of pavement surface, railway warning signals, pedestrian and bicycle accessibility. The recommendations of the safety review included the reconstruction of First Street pavement from Highway 305 West to Railway Avenue, addition of pedestrian/bicycle pathways on both sides of the street, installation of safety railing along the pathways and relocation of railway warning signals. The scope also included the submission of application to Transport Canada on behalf of the Town to secure funding for transportation improvements.
