The objective of this project was to provide a reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious wastewater treatment system for the Greenbryre Estates development located near Saskatoon. The design of the Greenbryre Wastewater Treatment System required the integrated design of several highly technical components.
The system begins with a low pressure sewer system that delivers effluent from individual septic tanks at each residence to the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Primary treatment (solids removal) occurs in each septic tank prior to being pumped to the WWTP.
The WWTP consists of several components, including dual train Submerged Attached Growth Reactor (SAGR) systems, a Recycle/Dosing Pumping Station, an Effluent Pumping Station, a Blower Building complete with peristaltic chemical feed pump system for disinfection, and holding ponds.
The wastewater system was designed for a flow of 343 cubic metres per day, which will service approximately 250 residences, as well as the golf course clubhouse and a small commercial facility.
The wastewater solution for Greenbryre Estates was the result of collaboration between engineers at Catterall & Wright and the subconsultant, Nelson Environmental Inc. The project resulted in an innovative yet practical wastewater solution for this subdivision in Saskatchewan.
