About Us

Putting decades of experience to work for you.

Catterall & Wright was established in 1965 by Don Wright and Fred Catterall, graduates of the University of Saskatchewan and University of Manitoba Colleges of Engineering. Their goal was to offer professional engineering services to municipalities, land developers, government agencies, First Nations, and industries in Saskatchewan. The first office was located in Saskatoon, SK on Central Avenue in Sutherland until they built the current building on 8th Street East a few years later. Fred & Don were well respected in their field and provided the personal and reliable service that we continue to value.

In 1995 the partnership transitioned to Al Mickelson, Bill Wright and Lyle McLeod with Brett LaRoche, Ryan Rogal, Phil Shilling, Shaun McLeod, and Carleen Bartel taking ownership in 2010. The senior engineers within the company each have 37 to 40 years of experience in civil engineering. Today, our office has grown to employ an average of 23 staff who are a mix of knowledge and experience, well versed in new technology related to municipal engineering, drafting and modelling software.

In 2015 we celebrated our 50th Anniversary at Louis Loft on the University of Saskatchewan campus. It was wonderful to enjoy this milestone with our valued clients and colleagues. We are proud of our history and believe the key to our long term relationships and clientele is our ability to provide our clients with quality personal service.

Catterall & Wright strives to provide courteous, personal service with unique and innovative solutions for all municipal infrastructure systems. We are dedicated to providing civil engineering services with our proficient technical expertise, design, field layout and observation during construction, contract administration and project management.  To say we have an amazing staff is an understatement.  We lean on each other, we learn from each other, and most of all we support each other.  That's how we operate and that's Catterall & Wright.

"Both Fred and Don promoted being a team player, maintaining high standards, taking pride in your work and providing customers with good design at reasonable cost; it was the Catterall & Wright way."
Annette Bristol, Draftsperson at C&W 1971-1976
“If you think long and hard enough there’s always a solution” … and that meant a solution that was effective and cost-efficient. This was my favourite Fred principal and it remains with me to this day; I use it, and give it to others.
Annette Bristol, Draftsperson at C&W 1971-1976
